Double gold for Canada at World Seniors

It was a golden double for Canada in Saturday’s finals at the World Senior Championships, while Scotland had to settle for two silver medals.

The Canadian women beat Scotland by 8-4, while the Canadian men were 7-2 winners over the Scots in their final.

In the women’s final, Canada blanked the first end before scoring three in the second.

Although the Scots brought the score level at 3-3 at the fourth-end break, a further three by the Canadians in the sixth end, followed by a steal of two in the seventh were enough to give Canada the title and gold medals. It is a third world title in all for this team, to back up their previous wins in 2018 and 2019.

In the men’s gold medal game, Canada opened with a score of two and then had a single steal in the second end for a 3-0 lead.

The Scots never really recovered from that, and score of twos for the Canadians in the fourth and sixth ends were enough to persuade the Scots to concede, with a final score of 7-2 to Canada.

In the bronze games, Japan women beat Switzerland by 6-4, helped by single steals in the second and seventh ends.
