2017 European Youth Olympic Festival Round robin stage draws to a close

The round robin stage of the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival being held in Erzurum, Turkey has drawn to a close. In the men’s competition Slovenia topped the group with a record of three wins and one loss. They began their competition with an 8-1 victory over Norway, before losing their next game to Russia by a score of 5-3.

Asian Winter Games return to Sapporo for the third time

International curling returns to Sapporo, in Hokkaido, Japan, when the 8th Asian Winter Games begin on Saturday (18 February) in the Sapporo Curling Stadium. Sapporo is the fourth largest city in Japan, the largest on the northern island of Hokkaido and played host to the 1972 Olympic Winter Games, the first ever held in Asia as well as the first ever Asian Winter games in 1986.

VoIP Defender WJCC 2017 testing teams from around the globe and the 2018 Olympic venue

Women’s and men’s teams representing 12 Member Associations from across the globe will come together in the Republic of Korea on Thursday (16 February), as the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017 (WJCC) gets underway. This Olympic Winter Games 2018 test event will be held in the Gangneung Curling Centre, in Gangneung, Korea from 16 to 26 February.

European Curling Championships 2018 bound for Tallinn, Estonia

The European Curling Championships 2018 (ECC) will take place next year, between 16 and 24 November, at the Tondiraba Ice Hall, in Tallinn, Estonia. The Estonian Curling Association signed an agreement with the World Curling Federation (WCF) to host the championships, at a special signing ceremony attended by WCF President, Kate Caithness today (Thursday 9 February).

Curling Night in America 2017

Curling Night in America aired during January and February 2017. This year's competition, which was filmed in December 2016 in Dulluth, Minnesota, features both team and mixed doubles action - with teams competing from USA, China, Japan and Scotland. The format of the competition sees one men’s, women’s and mixed doubles team from each nation competing in round-robin tournaments.

Canada women and Great Britain men have won gold medals in the curling event at the Winter Universiade Games, being held in the Almaty Arena, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

Sweden’s women’s and Norway’s men’s teams have won the bronze medals on the penultimate day of the curling competition at the Winter Universiade Games, being held in the Almaty Arena, in Kazakhstan.

Winter European Youth Olympic Festival returns curling to Turkey

International curling will return to Erzurum, in Turkey, when the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) begins on Saturday (11 February), in the Erzurum Curling Arena.

Czech Republic to host Olympic Qualification Event 2017

The World Curling Federation has announced that its Olympic Qualification Event 2017 (OQE), which will finalise the team line-ups for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, Korea (8-25 February), will take place in Pilsen, Czech Republic. A total of eight women’s and eight men’s teams will compete at the event between 5 and 10 December, in the Winter Arena Košutka.

WCF Athlete Commission

The WCF Athlete Commission was established in March 2013. The mission of the WCF Athlete Commission is to communicate the interests of high performance curlers in cooperative support of the WCF achieving its mission. The WCF Athlete Commission serves as an independent and a consultative body, and acts as the collective voice of our Athletes.

Anti-Doping Rules

The WCF is committed to the eradication of doping from sport and to protect clean athletes. Doping can be harmful to an athletes health, damages the integrity of sport, and is morally and ethically wrong. All athletes participating in WCF competitions must abide by the WCF Anti-Doping Rules. The latest WCF Anti-Doping Rules v6.0 came into effect in September 2016.

Competition and Rules Commission

The WCF Competition and Rules Commission was established in March 2013. Currently chaired by Board Member Hugh Millikin the role of the Commission is to review WCF Competitions and Rules and ensure they are fit for purpose.


The long-term solution to reduce doping is through effective prevention and clean sport values-based education programs to create a strong doping-free culture. The following education resources and tools are recommended by the WCF and are available on WADA’s website.

Finance Commission

The WCF Finance Commission is currently chaired by Board Member and former Director of Finance Andy Anderson the role of the Commission is to oversee the finances of the World Curling Federation and act as an internal audit group. The Commission reports to the Board and to the Member Associations during the Annual Congress.

USA secure places at Worlds after Americas Challenge

USA's women's and men's teams will compete at the upcoming CPT World Women’s and Ford World Men’s Curling Championships 2017 after Nina Roth and John Shuster's teams defeated Brazil in three straight games each to win the Americas Challenge in Duluth, Minnesota.
