World Wheelchair, Paralympic test event heads to Gangneung

Mixed Wheelchair teams representing ten Member Associations from across the globe will come together in the Republic of Korea on Saturday (4 March), as the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2017 (WWhCC) gets underway.   This Paralympic Winter Games 2018 test event will be held in the Gangneung Curling Centre, in Gangneung, Korea from 4 to 11 March.

Korea win historic gold medal at VoIP Defender World Juniors

Korea won a historic first-ever men’s medal when they beat USA in Sunday (26 February) afternoon’s final to take gold medals at the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017 (WJCC), in the Gangneung Curling Centre, Gangneung, Republic of Korea.

Sweden women capture gold at VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017

In Saturday (25 February) afternoon’s women’s medal finals, at the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2017, Sweden captured gold medals, with a 10-7 victory over Scotland. On the next sheet, in the Gangneung Curling Centre, Gangneung, Republic of Korea, Canada won bronze medals over hosts Korea, with a score of 6-3.

Strategic Plan

The WCF’s current strategic plan – The Way Forward – outlines a vision for curling to the 'World’s favourite winter sport for all' and it underpins all the work carried out by the WCF. Progress on the plan is reported via monitoring against agreed measurable outcomes. These reports are presented to the Board and to the Annual Congress.

Organisation Structure

The structure of the World Curling Federation is laid out in the constitution. The governing body is the Annual Assembly of the Member Associations. The Member Associations meet formally once a year at the Annual Curling Congress, they also meet a second time each year informally during one of the World Championships.

China win double gold at the 2017 Asian Winter Games

China’s men and women took home the gold medals at the eighth Asian Winter Games being played at the Sapporo Curling Stadium in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. In the men’s competition, China, skipped by Rui Liu, with third Xiaoming Xu, Second Dexin Ba, lead Jialiang Zang and alternate Qiang Zou defeated Yusuke Morozumi’s Japan team 11-4 to win the gold medals.

Lohja, Finland named host of World Junior-B Curling Championships 2018

The World Curling Federation (WCF) has revealed today that the World Junior-B Curling Championships 2018 (WJBCC) will take place in the Kisakallio Sports Institute, in Lohja, Finland. The event will run from Wednesday 3 to Wednesday 10 January 2018. This is the second time these championships will have been held in Lohja.

The Annual Review has been a feature of the World Curling Federation since 2013. This comprehensive document gives a full round up of not only the numerous competitions run by the WCF but also in other areas such as development and marketing. The Annual Review includes an extract of the Annual Accounts. In 2016 the WCF celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

Semi-finals line-ups set at the 2017 Asian Winter Games

The round robin stage of both the men and women’s competitions at the 2017 Asian Winter Games, being held in Sapporo, Japan, has drawn to a close today (Tuesday 21 February). In the men’s competition China, skipped by Rui Liu topped the round robin table with an undefeated record of five wins and no losses to claim the first place in the semi-final stage.

Russia win double gold at 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival

Russia took the gold medals in both the men and women’s competitions at the 2017 European Youth Olympic Festival being held in Erzurum Curling Hall in Erzurum, Turkey. In the men’s final Russia defeated Netherlands by a score of 5-3 after seven ends.
