The World Curling Federation is looking for elite curlers - who have competed in international competition in the past eight years - to join its Athlete Commission.

Nominations are being taken until Monday 26 September 2016, for four positions.

Athlete Commission Election Notice 2016

The primary goal of the WCF Athlete Commission is to communicate the interests of the Athletes in cooperative support of the WCF achieving its mission. The Athlete Commission serves as an independent and a consultative body, and acts as a link between high performance athletes, the WCF Board, the WCF Competition and Rules Commission and the IOC Athletes’ Commission.

The Athlete Commission has seven members and between them they cover the following interest groups (a member may be able to represent more than one interest group):

1. A male athlete who has played at the World Men’s Curling Championship or Olympic Winter Games
2. A female athlete who has played at the World Women’s Curling Championship or Olympic Winter Games
3. A wheelchair athlete who has played at the World Wheelchair Curling Championship or Paralympic Winter Games
4. A Mixed Doubles athlete who has played at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship
5. All three WCF geographical zones should be represented

The members of the Commission at this time are Ann Swisshelm (USA), Cathrine Lindahl (SWE) and Kelly Scott (CAN). This means we have members of the Commission who are able to represent the female athlete requirement and two of the three zones.

The World Curling Federation is therefore calling for nominations for candidates to fill the four vacant positions. The nominees will be put to a vote of defined athletes*. The vote will be used to fill the vacant positions on the Commission whilst ensuring that all disciplines and zones are represented and gender equality is respected.

Nominees should complete the attached nomination form which should also be signed by their Member Association. Athletes who have competed in the curling or wheelchair curling events at the Olympic or Paralympic Winter Games, the Men’s, Women’s, Mixed Doubles or Wheelchair Curling World Championships in the last eight years are eligible for nomination.

The deadline for return of nominations is Monday 26 September 2016

To have your name and email address added to the electoral register please email info@worldcurling.org indicating your name, Member Association and year of last eligible competition.

*Athletes who have competed in the curling or wheelchair curling events at the Olympic or Paralympic Winter Games, the Men’s, Women’s Mixed Doubles or Wheelchair Curling World Championships in the last eight years will also be eligible to vote in the election.
