World Curling Federation’s Development Assistance Program

The World Curling Federation’s Development Assistance Program (DAP) began in 2002, following the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City.

The first programme encompassed four years, concluding in February 2006. Each WCF Member Association was granted a maximum of US$ 40,000 during that period for expenditure in six development categories:

  • Equipment Purchases ($10,000)
  • Youth Clinics and Camps ($8,000)
  • Upgrading Individuals ($5,000)
  • Athlete Training ($10,000)
  • Adult Novice Clinics ($5,000)
  • Publicity and Promotion ($2,000)

The second DAP ran for 15 months (April 2006 to June 2007) and allotted US$ 10,000 to each Member Association. This was intended to spur development on an annual schedule as opposed to a four-year Olympic cycle. The categories were removed, allowing each Member Association to define their development needs.

The third DAP is for one year – July 2007 to June 30, 2008 – and will distribute US$ 10,000 with no category definitions.

The DAP cannot be used to contribute toward expenses for national teams competing in Championships nor to cover outstanding annual membership subscriptions.

All DAP applications, which are due May 15 2008, must be pre-approved by WCF and submitted by official Member Associations of the World Curling Federation only.

Unsanctioned, Regional, Corporate, Individual or Third-Party applications are not considered.
