Angelina Jensen led her 2007 world finalists to a 6-3 win over Canada's Jennifer Jones. After three straight blank ends the Danes pounced for three points, and added a deuce in the sixth to go up 5-1.
"I'm just so happy," I can't explain it," said Danish fourth thrower Madeleine Dupont. "I was so worried we were going to go out and get our ass kicked."
"We need one more, so watch out Sweden."
Denmark faces Sweden in afternoon action to complete the round-robin. The Swedes then meet Canada in the climactic draw Thursday night.
The Danes climbed to 7-3 while Canada dropped to 8-2. China leads the pack at 8-1 with Switzerland's Mirjam Ott, a 7-4 winner over the United States, also in the playoff picture at 8-2.
Dupont also skipped Denmark's team at last month's World Juniors in Ostersund, Sweden, where she lost a horrendous tiebreaker to Canada's Kaitlyn Lawes. Dupont missed her last shot of the game in the 10th end and the Canadians stole three for a 10-7 victory.
"I woke up this morning and and thought 'Oh my God, is it going to be the same thing over again?'" said Dupont.
"Will we start out well but then fade at the end? Not this time."
Denmark lost three times to Canada's Kelly Scott at last year's Worlds in Aomori, Japan, including an 8-4 loss in the championship final.
In other matches, Japan kept their playoff hopes alive by taking four in the final end to beat Germany 9-4. Japan's Moe Meguro climbed to 6-4 while German skip Andrea Schoepp dropped out of contention at 4-6. Italy also beat the Czech Republic 6-3.
Debbie McCormick's U.S. champions fell to 5-5.
