GRAND FORKS – Switzerland is in unfamiliar territory at 0-4 in Monday action at the 2008 World Men's Curling Championship.
Swiss skip Claudio Pescia held a 4-2 lead after four but Norway's Thomas Ulsrud grabbed a three in the fifth to slip 5-4 in front. Clinging to a one-point lead in the 10th, the Swiss took it to a final-stone measurement but Norway ended up with the win, taking two to snatch the 9-8 victory.
In other games, Germany's Andy Kapp moved to 4-0 with a 9-7 win over the Czech Republic. The Germans took an enormous five points in the fifth end, but needed it as Cech skip Jiri Snitil refused to go away.
David Murdoch of Scotland defeated Thomas Dufour of France 5-4, and Craig Brown of the United States made a last-shot draw in an extra-end to subdue Fengchen Wang of China 9-8.
Canada's Kevin Martin is a game behind Germany at 3-0, while the United States is third at 3-1. Norway, Scotland, France and the Czech Republic are all 2-2, while another four nations share one win.
Numerous television groups are delivering live and tape-delayed action, plus highlight packages, to world curling fans. Eurosport, CBC/Bold/CBCSports.ca (Canada), NBCOlympics.com and WCSN (United States) and CurlTV are all on site in Grand Forks.
