In conjunction with the World Curling Federation, U.S. Curling Association, and the U.S. Olympic Committee, NBC Sports Group will bring back Curling Night In America for its third season, starting in January 2017.

NBCSN begins its Curling Night In America presentations on Thursday 19 Januay with nine shows, for a total of 18 hours of coverage from the U.S. Curling Grand Prix.

The made-for-TV international curling event, which debuted in 2014, will feature three American teams taking on China, Japan and Scotland in men’s, women’s and mixed doubles competition, which will take place between 1-3 December 2016 at the Duluth Curling Club in Duluth, Minnesota, USA.

“With nearly 2 million viewers for season two, almost double the audience from the first year, the ‘Curling Night in America’ series has developed a rabid following and serves as a significant promotional vehicle for curling clubs across the country,” said Rick Patzke, chief executive officer of USA Curling. “Duluth will be a great backdrop for this year’s event, which would not be possible without the tremendous support we continue to receive from NBC, the World Curling Federation, the U.S. Olympic Committee, and in particular sponsors CryoMAX, Nike, AtomOS and The Ram. But the competitors make the show, of course, and I’m sure they will deliver drama once again, just as they have in each of the first two years.”

Olympian Pete Fenson (Bemidji, Minn.), who was skip of the bronze medal-winning U.S. team in 2006, will once again be the analyst for the Curling Night In America coverage.

World Curling TV will produce the coverage from Duluth, and Carr-Hughes Productions of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., will package the programs for NBC Sports Network.

Similar to last year’s event (the competition is titled the U.S. Grand Prix of Curling), a points system will be used to determine a champion in each division as well as an overall victor. In addition, prize money will be up for grabs.
