David Beesley obituary

The World Curling Federation is saddened to hear of the death of David Beesley, from Canada.

David worked with the St Clair Group in Toronto in the 1990s. Then, until the mid 2000s, the St Clair Group were the marketing agents – through Curling Canada – for the World Curling Federation. After the St Clair Group was sold David moved to work directly with Curling Canada and assumed responsibility for marketing matters in regard to the World Curling Federation’s world championship events in Canada.

President Kate Caithness said: “For more than 20 years the World Curling Federation enjoyed a great working relationship with David. He was largely responsible for the long-term sponsorship that the World Curling Federation has enjoyed with Ford of Canada, as the title sponsor of the World Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships when they are held in Canada.”

David was also responsible for the many other sponsors who formed part of the world curling championships in Canada under the highly successful Season of Champions concept.

He will be sadly missed and the thoughts of the World Curling Federation are with his family and friends at this time.
