After nine sessions of play at the European Curling Championships C-Division 2017, being held in the Andorra’s Palau de Gel d’Andorra, Poland’s women’s team are the only team that remain undefeated.

They top the standings on the women’s side, while on the men’s side Spain and Ireland are currently tied at the top of the rankings with four wins and one loss.

So far, Poland’s team skipped by Marta Szeliga-Frynia, have beaten Slovenia (12-10), Austria (9-1), Croatia (13-3) and Slovakia (11-5). They are due to play again this evening against Ireland.

Spain’s men’s team have won against France (10-1), Belarus (7-6), Bulgaria (12-3) and Ireland (6-1). Meanwhile, Ireland have had victories over Romania (12-9), Bulgaria (10-9), and Belarus (7-6). Ireland also have a recorded win over Luxembourg. But, Luxembourg’s men’s team have conceded all their games at these championships, by forfeiting them before the start of the event.

At the moment, below the table leaders in each group there are a number of teams tied. On the women’s side Spain, Ireland and Slovakia are all tied for second place. Finishing in first and second place at this event gives the teams in those positions, at the end of the round-robin, a direct route, to the final, with the winner securing their place at the European Curling Championships B-Division 2017.

Below Spain and Ireland, on the men’s side there is deadlock between Belarus, Croatia, France and Serbia – all with three wins and two loses.
