The World Curling Federation has confirmed that the European C-Division Curling Championships 2018 will be held in Taarnby Curling Club, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The championships for women’s and men’s teams will run from 11 to 18 April 2018.

The women’s and men’s winners and runners-up in Denmark will be promoted to the B-Division, which will be held in Tallinn, Estonia in November 2018 as part of the Le Gruyère AOP European Curling Championships 2018.

Taarnby Curling Club most recently held the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships 2016. This venue has hosted multiple international curling events, having welcomed the World Senior Curling Championships 2006 and 2012 and the World Junior-B Curling Championships in 2001, 2003 and 2004. The C-Division was also previously held in Taarnby in 2011 and 2013.

World Curling Federation President, Kate Caithness, said: “Today’s announcement of the European C-Division for 2018 completes our roster of events for the 2017-2018 season. The local organising committee will draw from their vast experiences hosting international curling events to put on another great show for the athletes, officials and supporters who will travel to Denmark in April.”

This news comes after Silkeborg in Denmark was announced as the host town of the World Women’s Curling Championship 2019 and Denmark’s women’s and men’s teams qualified for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, in the Republic of Korea.

Chairman of the local organising committee, Johannes Jensen, said: “It is a great pleasure for Taarnby Curling Club to be involved with the World Curling Federation in being the venue to host the European C-Division Curling Championships. We are looking forward to welcoming all to Taarnby once again.”
