Estonia win gold at the 2017 Audi quattro Winter Games NZ

Estonia pair, Marie Turmann and Harri Lill took the gold medals at the 2017 Audi quattro Winter Games NZ being held in Naseby, New Zealand.

In the final Estonia claimed a 7-6 victory over defending champions, Canada, featuring Kaylnn Park and Charley Thomas to win the gold medals.

Estonia took an early lead with a score of three points in the first end. The teams traded single points over the next five ends before Canada responded in the seventh end with a score of three points to take a 6-5 lead into the final end.

In the final end, sitting shot stone, Estonia’s Marie Turmann held her nerve with the final stone of the game to draw for a score of two points to seal their 7-6 win and claim the gold medals, with Canada taking the silver medals.

Norway pair of Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten won the bronze medals with a convincing 10-2 victory over Korea after six ends.

Norway opened the scoring with three points in the first end before stealing a single point in the second end. They would go onto to score two points in the fourth end, before making use of their powerplay in the sixth end to score four more points for the win.

Earlier in the semi-finals Canada defeated Norway 9-8 while Estonia defeated Korea 10-2 to claim their places in the gold medal game.
