Denmark, Germany and Scotland share the lead, each unbeaten, after the first two rounds of men’s round-robin play in the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2011 in Moscow. On Sunday morning, Denmark defeated newcomers Latvia by 7-3.

Latvia, making their A Group debut at this year’s Le Gruyère European Curling Championships in Moscow’s Megasport Arena, produced the shock result of the opening round-robin men’s games when they beat defending champions Norway, led by Olympic silver medallist Thomas Ulsrud, by 8-5. Latvia opened with a score of two and followed that up with a single steal for a 3-0 lead.

The Russian Federation will host one of the major international curling championship events for the first time when play in the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2011 gets underway on Saturday 3 December in Moscow’s mammoth Megasport Arena. This will be the 37th edition of these Championships since the inaugural event in Megève, France in 1975.

Both the Chinese men’s and women’s teams have won the finals of the 2011 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships in Nanjing, China. In front of a home crowed at the Olympic Sports Center, the Chinese men, skipped by Rui Liu, beat New Zealand (skip Peter de Boer) 5-2.

China and New Zealand have qualified for the 2012 World Men’s Curling Championship with the Pacific-Asia spots at the 2012 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship going to China and Korea. By making the finals at the 2011 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships (PACC) currently underway in Nanjing, China, these four teams secured their places at the 2012 World Championships.
The 2011 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships get underway at the Olympic Sports Center in Nanjing, China on Saturday 19 November. 10 teams (6 men’s and 4 women’s teams) from the World Curling Federation Pacific-Asia region will take part in the event with the finals being staged a week later on Saturday 26 November. With one day of round-robin play left, 8 of the 9 competing teams are still in with a chance of making the playoffs on Thursday. After seven rounds no team remains unbeaten.

Italy is the only team to remain unbeaten after the third day of play at the qualification event for the 2012 World Wheelchair Curling Championship at the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland. Both the original front runners at the event, Germany and Switzerland, were knocked back by the Italians and Finns on Monday.

Germany and Switzerland remain unbeaten with three wins apiece after the second day of play at the World Wheelchair Curling Qualification event at the Kisakallio Sports Institute in Lohja, Finland. In the morning, the Germans beat Latvia 9-5 before going on to overwhelm the Japanese 12-0 in the afternoon session.
