Japan and Russia share the lead after the first day of round-robin competition in the Ford World Women's Curling Championship in Swift Current, Canada. The Japanese were in control throughout their evening game against Italy and eventually their skip Satsuki Fujisawa hit-out one of her opponent's stones to score two points in the eighth end and seal her 10-3 win.

At the conclusion of the VoIP Defender World Junior Curling Championships (WJCC) 2016 in Copenhagen, Denmark, World Curling Federation President Kate Caithness announced the venue for the World Junior-B Curling Championships (WJBCC) 2017.

Scotland beat USA by 6-4 to take the men's gold medals in Sunday afternoon's final. At the same time, Canada were 8-4 winners over Switzerland to take bronze. The Scots controlled the gold medal final from the start. After blanking the first end, they scored two in the second when their skip Bruce Mouat drew his second stone into the house.

17-year-old Mary Fay from Nova Scotia led Canada to the 2016 World Junior Championships title with a 7-4 win over USA in Sunday morning's final.

The Ford World Men’s Curling Championship 2017, set for 1-9 April at Rexall Place, Edmonton, Canada, will be the final opportunity for countries to earn qualifying points to be part of the field that plays for gold at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Russia’s wheelchair curling skip Andrey Smirnov has been named the Allianz Athlete of the Month for February, following his team’s success at the World Wheelchair Curling Championships 2016. Smirnov, helped Russia defeat Norway 7-4 in the finals at that event, held in Lucerne, Switzerland on Sunday 28 February.
Curling Night in America returns to air January and February 2016. This year's competition, which was filmed in December 2015 in Eveleth, Minnesota, features both team and mixed doubles action. Competing this year are teams from USA, Japan, China and Scotland.

Following further testing by an independent academic institution the World Curling Federation has agreed to remove hair brushes from the list of compliant sweeping devices under the WCF Brush Moratorium as of 1st March 2016. The Moratorium applies to World Curling Federation competitions.

Russia are the 2016 World Wheelchair Curling champions after defeating Norway in the gold medal game at the Lucerne Curling Club in Lucerne, Switzerland. This result means that Norway take the silver medals while Korea defeated Switzerland for the bronze medals. In the gold medal game, Russia retained their title with a 7-4 victory over Norway.

The World Curling Federation continues to monitor the developments around sweeping issues that have occurred this season. It will continue to take the steps it sees necessary for the good of the game based on testing around ice impact and damage and its existing rules. As such testing is underway on a number of different brush heads including hair, and the results are expected shortly.

Philipp Hoesli, 14, has won his second medal of the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway, taking Gold in the Mixed Doubles curling along with partner Yako Matsuzawa, 16, from Japan, who becomes the first Japanese curler to win an Olympic medal.

Canada have won the Mixed curling Gold medals at the 2nd Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway today (Wednesday 17 February). The Silver medals went to USA, while Switzerland collected Bronze in the Curling Hall at the Stampsletta Ice Venues.
