First WCF playing schedules available for new season

With the new international curling season fast-approaching the playing schedules for the World Curling Federation’s (WCF) first championships of the 2016-2017 season are now available to view.

The new season will get underway on Friday 14 October when the second World Mixed Curling Championship 2016 (WMxCC) begins in Kazan, Russia.

Hosts Russia will play Spain in the first round-robin session (at 18.30) on 14 October, at the Mixed. Defending champion nation, Norway, will begin their campaign during session four of round-robin play on Saturday 15 October (at 16.00) against Romania – times here are Moscow Standard Time.

Once again this year the World Wheelchair-B (WWhBCC) and Pacific-Asia Curling Championships 2016 (PACC) will run in tandem. The wheelies – in Lohja, Finland – start on Friday 4 November and run until Thursday 10 November, while the Pacific-Asia event – in Uiseong, Korea – begins on Saturday 5 November.

The first round-robin session in Korea will be at 17.30 on 5 November, with the defending champion nation and the host’s men’s team, Korea taking on Hong Kong. Also newcomers Qatar will be in action against Japan in the opening round. The first women’s round-robin session will be at 14.00 on Sunday 6 November, where 2015 winners Japan take-on debutants Qatar. The times here are Korean Standard Time.

2016 will wrap-up with the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2016 (ECC) in Braehead, Scotland. Those championships start on Saturday 19 November with defending women's champions, Russia taking on Switzerland at 14.00 and 2015 men's winners Sweden playing Scandinavian rivals, Denmark at 19.00.
