Semi-finals line-ups set at the 2017 Audi quattro Winter Games NZ

The round-robin stage and quarter-finals of the Mixed Doubles Curling competition at the 2017 Audi quattro Winter Games NZ, being held in Naseby, New Zealand has drawn to a close today (Tuesday 29 August).

In Pool A, defending champions Canada topped the group with a perfect seven wins and zero losses record to progress directly to the semi-final stage.

Estonia progressed to the quarter-final stage after finishing in second place in the group with a record of five wins and two losses. Hungary secured the final quarter-final place after finishing in third place in the pool with a 9-7 tie-breaker victory over Finland after both teams finished the round-robin with records of four wins and three losses.

In Pool B, Korea topped the group with an undefeated record of seven wins and zero losses to progress directly to the semi-finals.

Norway finished second in Pool B on a record of six wins and one loss to take the first quarter-final spot. Scotland finished third in Pool B with a record of five wins and two losses to claim their place in the quarter-finals.

In the first quarter-final game Estonia faced Scotland, with Estonia securing a 7-5 win helped in part by a successful powerplay in the sixth end to score three points and give them a 6-3 lead. Scotland were unable to recover the deficit and Estonia would go on to score a single point in the eighth end for the victory and a place in the semi-finals where they will face Korea.

In the second of the quarter-final games, Norway defeated Hungary 7-4 after seven ends, scoring two points in the first, third and sixth ends on the way to their win. Norway will move on to face Canada in the other semi-final game.

The semi-finals will be played at 11.00 on Wednesday 30 August while the bronze and gold medal games will be played later that day at 15.30. All times are New Zealand Standard Time, 12 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time.
