Anti-Doping Rule Violation
On 7 April 2016, the WCF Anti-Doping Panel has rendered the following decision:

Contrary to WCF Anti-Doping Regulation 2.1

Following the deliberations of the WCF Anti-Doping Panel dated 7 April 2016, on behalf of the World Curling Federation, the Panel have approved the Consent Decision agreed by both parties that accepts Ms Simonson has committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation and that this constitutes a Doping Offence under ADR Article 2.1. The Panel confirm that the sanction applicable in this case should be fifteen (15) months from the date of her provisional suspension which was effective from 12 February 2016. In accordance with ADR Article 9, the athlete shall have her results disqualified from the Le Gruyère European Curling Championship 2015.

The case was brought before the Panel following an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) in an In-Competition test on Ms Simonsen, playing third position for the Denmark Women’s team, during the Le Gruyère European Curling Championships 2015 held in Esbjerg, Denmark, on 24 November 2015. Ms Simonsen tested positive for 5a-androstane-3a,17b-diol (5aAdiol) and for 5b-androstane-3a,17b-diol (5bAdiol) consistent with an exogenous origin which is a Prohibited Substance listed in category S1 Anabolic Agents of the WADA Prohibited List 2015.

WADA have the right of appeal regarding this decision.
