The USA will take part in the Ford World Men's Curling Championship 2015 after defeating Brazil at the Americas Challenge, taking place at the Four Seasons Curling Club in Blaine, Minnesota.

Skip Heath McCormick and his team from the USA including Chris Plys (Duluth, Minn.), Joe Polo (Duluth, Minn.), Ryan Brunt (St. Paul, Minn.), and Colin Hufman (Seattle) defeated Brazil who were skipped by Marcelo Mello, by three games in their best of five games series.

The USA won 6-4, on Saturday afternoon and wrapped up the best-of-five series with a 9-3 victory later in the evening at USA Curling's National Training Center. They had previously won their opening game of the series 7-3 on Friday.

With this victory, the USA take the final berth at the Ford World Men's Championship 2015 which is taking place from March 28 to April 6 in Halifax, Canada.

The USA team will be determined at the upcoming National Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

In the Saturday evening game, the USA came out firing with three points to open the game. Then, in the third end, they scored three more points to pull ahead 6-1.

Brazil scored a two points in the fifth end but struggled to put more than one more point on the scoreboard thereafter.

Brazil previously challenged the USA in 2009 and 2010 for world berths with the USA sealing its appearance in those world championships by winning the challenge each time in three straight games. (Brazil also put forth a challenge in 2012 but later withdrew).
