Canada to be challenged by Brazil for World men’s spot

For the first time, Canada will face a challenge for their place in the World Men's Curling Championship 2018 being held in Las Vegas, USA.

During the World Financial Group Continental Cup between 11-14 January 2018, in London, Ontario, Canada, Brazil men will play a best-of-five series against the current world champions, Canada, with the winner taking the second of the guaranteed places at the world championship for the Americas Zone.

The Americas Zone is guaranteed two places in a world championship with the automatic spot traditionally going to the highest ranked nation from the previous season. However, as the USA will play host to the 2018 World Men's Championship they will receive the guaranteed place for the Americas Zone.

The initial three games in the series are tentatively scheduled for Thursday 11 January and Friday 12 January 2018 with two further games scheduled for Saturday 13 January 2018 should they be required.
