It took an extra end to decide the winner of the France and Turkey game in the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship 2017, during Monday (23 April) afternoon’s 12th session of round-robin play.

Both teams were looking for their first win. Initially, Turkey established a 6-0 lead, by scoring in the first three ends. But, France utilised a power play in the fourth end to score five points. Turkey then regained the lead and France fought back again to 9-9 after the eight regulation ends. Turkey had the hammer in the extra end, but they were short with their draw to the button handing France the win, by 10-9.

Meanwhile, wins for Scotland (8-5 v Ireland in Group B), USA (10-1 v Germany in Group C) and China (14-2 v Netherlands in Group D) sees these teams all lead their respective pools.

The final game of this session was won by Wales. They played Denmark and won 9-7 helped by steals of two points in each of the third and fourth ends.

Results after session 12: Ireland 5-8 Scotland; Turkey 9-10 France; Denmark 7-9 Wales; USA 10-1 Germany; Netherlands 2-14 China
