1v2: Canada v Sweden 9-3
3v4: USA v Switzerland 6-4
Canada is straight through to the junior women’s final at the World Junior Curling Championships after beating Sweden 9-3 in the 1v2 playoff game.
After only three ends Rachel Homan’s team was 7-0 up. Swedish Skip Anna Hasselborg handed the Canadians a steal of four in third end when her draw went through the house. The Swedes were never able to make up for the loss.
The 3v4 playoff was a tighter game with the United States and Switzerland neck and neck on 4-4 by the end of the eighth end. Alexandra Carlson took two points in the ninth and although Swiss Skip Manuela Siegrist had the last stone in the tenth end she opted to concede rather than play the last stone with the USA lying three in the house.
