Wales’ men’s team at the World Senior Curling Championships 2017 - being held in Lethbridge, Canada's ATB Centre, Lethbridge Curling Club - will play hosts Canada in Friday's (28 April) quarter-finals.

Wales beat Israel 8-6 in Thursday (27 April) evening’s one qualification game. The Welsh were tailing going into the eighth end, but a score of three points handed them the win.

The men’s quarter-final line-up is now complete. Australia play Germany; Denmark meet Ireland; defending champions Sweden play New Zealand; and hosts Canada take-on Wales. These games will be played at 10.00 on Friday (minus six Universal Coordinated Time).

On the women’s side Switzerland beat Italy 7-3, while defending champions Scotland won 10-0 in six ends against Russia.

The Scotland – Russia game was one-way traffic, with the Scots scoring steals in five successive ends before Russia conceded after the sixth end.

Switzerland took an early 3-0 lead in the other game, but an Italian fight-back was not enough, and they finished with a flourish, scoring one point in the seventh and stealing two in the eighth for their win.

These women’s teams now move to the semi-finals, where USA play Switzerland and hosts Canada face Scotland. These games will be played at 2pm on Friday.
