Canada women and three men's teams secure play-off places

Canada’s men became the first team to qualify for the Play-offs when they beat New Zealand by 8-2 to stay unbeaten at the top of Group C in the evening’s first session.

Ireland and Switzerland both had wins in Group B – Ireland beating Israel by 8-3 and Switzerland beating the USA by 5-3, meaning that these two teams are still locked together at the top of Group B.

The final session of the day saw Denmark and Sweden secure their play-off places from Group A.
Denmark defeated Poland 7-2 while Sweden defeated Norway 5-3 to ensure both teams remain undefeated in the group with six wins each.

Also in Group A, Germany claimed a 7-2 victory over Czech Republic and Japan won 6-4 against Belgium.

In the women’s event, USA beat previously undefeated Scotland by 6-4 while Switzerland had a 10-3 win over Slovakia, results that mean these two teams are locked together at the top of Group B on four wins and one loss.

Canada became the first women’s team to reach the play-offs with an 11-3 win over Ireland in the evening’s second session and remain the only undefeated team remaining in the women’s championship.

Elsewhere in the session England defeated Sweden 7-6 and Italy claimed a 7-5 extra end win over Lithuania.
